Cooking with James is a popular segment featured on The Highway Girl. Each week James joins The Highway Girl host Singer Songwriter Samantha Murphy to teach musicians and travelers how to take care of themselves on the road using only a hotplate. Each recipe is under $20 and feeds a band of four!
James Filtz, alumni of the Culinary Institute of America with a Bachelors Degree in Culinary Arts Management, is the Conference Manager for the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Serving on the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives, James has been involved with developing innovative program ideas for the chapter as well as overseeing the chapter’s involvement with the Catersource conference.
James recently received his CPCE (Certified Professional Catering Executive) designation from NACE while attending the summer Experience 2008! Conference in Philadelphia. Additionally, James also holds the first level certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers and is currently working on his next level of certification to become a Certified Sommelier.
My most recent venture is with longtime friend Samantha Murphy where I co-host “Cooking with James” a cooking show for touring artists and travelers. Each week we visit a different city and prepare delicious meals in fleabag motels for artists on the road. Cooking with James airs on The Highway Girl a traveling music show for the digital age.
